Leland K. Brian of Lee's Summit, Missouri, lost his battle with leukemia on April 23, 2007. He is survived by his wife, Frances, of 56 years; daughter Kathleen (Jeffrey) Emerson; son Timothy (Pauline) Brian; grandchildren Angela (Nick) Graan, and Patrick Brian; sister Anna Marie Brian; sister-in-law Betty (Jerry) Heffner; and mother-in-law Margaret Ventimiglia. Lee graduated from De La Salle Military Academy. Proudly served in the US Navy aboard the USS Dixie for 3 years and two years aboard the USS Laertes. Served 4 years in the Air Force Reserve. Retired from Allied Signal after 21 years a senior process engineer. Prior to that was a service/sales engineer at General Electric for 19 years. Upon retirement, worked at his fun job at K-Mart for 4 years and was a favorite checkout person. He was Quartermaster of VFW Post 5789, Lee's Summit. He will be buried with full military honors. Memorial services will be at Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church, 130 NW Murray Road, Lee's Summit, on Thursday, April 26, 2007. Visitation from 9:30 am - 11:00 am with a memorial mass to follow. Private family interment will take place the following day. Our heartfelt thanks to the KC Cancer Institute and the KC Hospice for their caring and kindness this past year. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Leukemia Society appreciated.
